TEDDS® Update Service

TEDDS includes a comprehensive and ever-expanding library of civil and structural engineering calculations for a variety of materials and structural forms.

The TEDDS Update Service allows you to keep up to date with the latest improvements to both the TEDDS software and the TEDDS Engineering Library. TEDDS will notify you when new updates become available and provide you with the option to download and install the updates immediately.

When you run TEDDS the software checks online to see if any updates are available. If an update that you have not already installed is available you will be notified with an appropriate message. Notification will appear in the Status Bar of the main application window or it will appear in the Status Bar of the Library Access System window. The Status Bar is the area at the bottom of the window.

Status Bar

To review a list of the updates that are available simply click on the notification message in the Status Bar. The Software Manager application will then check online and list all the updates that are available.

To install an update check the box next to the item in the list and click the Install button at the bottom of the window. Continue to follow the installation instructions and the update will be installed.

Software Manager

To check for updates manually simply run TEDDS click the Check for Updates command on the TEDDS Help menu.

TEDDS - UK Downloads

We recommend that you use the TEDDS Update Service as described above to install updates to the TEDDS Software and Engineering Library. However for your convenience the links provided below also allow you to download the installation files for the most recent update files.

Important Information

Please note: you must use a Windows logon account that has administrator privileges to install this update.

Please note: after you have installed this update it is strongly recommended that you run the Software Manager application again from your normal Windows logon account, this will ensure that the latest version of the Update Service Scheduler is correctly initialized.

Distributed Deployments

Please contact your local technical support team for details of how to apply this patch via Distrbuted Deployment.

CSC Update Service 6.0 Security Patch

This patches the Macrovision FLEXNet Connect service that is used by the CSC Update Service. It fixes a "Safe for Scripting" issue which potentially causes vulnerabilities in the FLEXnet Connect client, including a possible buffer overflow.

CSC Update Service 6.1 Security Patch

This update patches the Macrovision FLEXNet Connect service that is used by the CSC Update Service. It fixes a "Safe for Scripting" issue which potentially causes vulnerabilities in the FLEXnet Connect client, including a possible buffer overflow.

CSC Update Service 11.0

New version of the CSC Update Service that fixes the following issues:

Fix: If the Update Service displays a notification window for a software update the Read more... link opened the release notes in a window that could not be resized.

Fix: If the Update Service displays a notification window then Internet Explorer may have prompted the user with the following message "An ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe to interact with other parts of the page. Do you want to allow this interaction?".

CSC Common Update

This patch updates CSC Common to ensure that TEDDS uses version 11.0 of the CSC Update Service.

General

Calculation User Interfaces

Fix: Wait cursor was not always displayed when TEDDS was calculating the expressions embedded within a user interface.

Fix: User could interact with user interface before TEDDS had finished calculating the expressions embedded within a user interface. This caused numerous different errors to be reported depending on the calculation.

Options

Fix: Calc Document directory could not be set to the root of a drive.

TEDDS

Send To Word

Fix: When sending a document to Word 2007 the following error message may have been displayed "Word was unable to read this document. It may be corrupt...".

Send To TEDDS for Word

Fix: When sending a document to TEDDS for Word the following error message may have been displayed "The TEDDS for Word variable file (.vbl) for this document does not exist. Use the 'Calculate All' command to re-calculate the entire document.".

TEDDS for Word

Saving

Fix: When saving a document Word's Save document as type: setting was ignored, the save type would always default to the Word Document (.docx) format.

Variable Manager

Fix: When writing out a variable CAPI error 2 may have been reported.

Excel Link

Enhancement: Added support for Read and Write password protected workbooks.

Enhancement: When opening a Workbook do not add it to Excel's Most Recently Used (MRU) file list.

Enhancement: When opening a password protected Workbook ensure that a hidden instance of Excel is used so that user cannot see or interact with Workbook.

Beam Analysis

Diagrams

Fix: Loading envelope diagrams always showed the text "Self weight not included".

Fix: Loading diagram as displayed in user interface did not show span identifiers, support identifiers or dimensions.

Enhancement: Span units are now displayed to the left of the span dimension axis.

BAMomReaction

Fix: The BAMomReaction function invalidated the analysis results causing subsequent beam analysis functions to fail.

BACombinationResultsValid/BACombinationValid

Fix: The BACombinationResultsValid and BACombinationValid functions reported an error when using a load type name for unfactored combinations.

Engineering Library Update August 2008

Engineering Library Update August 2008

RC Wall Design (EN 1992-1)

New calculation for designing braced and unbraced, slender and non-slender walls to EN 1992-1:2004 and the UK National Annex to Eurocode 2. The calculation can be used in three ways:

  1. To check the capacity of the specified wall against the specified axial load (including tension) and minor axis end moments.
  2. To produce the interaction diagram about the minor axis for the specified wall.
  3. To determine the design bending moments for the specified wall, axial load and end moments.

Approach 3 is automatically included with approach 1. Approach 3 may be included with approach 2 if required.

  • Wall effective length may be input directly, calculated from end restraint factors, calculated from predetermined end rotational restraint flexibilities or calculated from the adjoining beam/slab geometry in accordance with PD6687:2006, "Background paper to the UK National Annexes to BS EN 1992-1".
  • Minimum cover for bond and fire resistance is determined automatically.
  • Crack widths may be calculated and checked against specified limits.

Rigid Diaphragm Force Distribution

New calculation which calculates the distribution of lateral forces through a rigid diaphragm into the lateral force resisting elements supporting the diaphragm. Lateral force resisting elements include columns (steel or concrete), braced bays (steel), individual shear walls and other elements. The calculation checks the summation of all direct forces and torsional shear forces.

RC Column Design (EN1992-1) v1.0.00

New calculation for designing braced and unbraced, slender and non-slender rectangular columns to EN 1992-1:2004 and the UK National Annex to Eurocode 2.

The calculation can be used in three ways:

  1. To check the capacity of the specified column against the specified axial load and end moments.
  2. To produce the interaction diagram about both axes for the specified column.
  3. To determine the design bending moments for the specified column, axial load and end moments.

Approach 3 is automatically included with approach 1. Approach 3 may be included with approach 2 if required.

  • Effects of biaxial bending are considered.
  • Column effective length may be input directly, calculated from end restraint factors, calculated from predetermined end rotational restraint flexibilities or calculated from the adjoining beam/slab geometry in accordance with PD6687:2006, "Background paper to the UK National Annexes to BS EN 1992-1".
  • Minimum cover for bond and fire resistance is determined automatically.
